Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and TRNC Lawmakers Hold Trilateral Meeting to Strengthen Parliamentary Cooperation

Baku, The Gulf Observer: The third meeting of the friendship groups from the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan, the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, and the Assembly of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) was held on April 9, underscoring growing inter-parliamentary cooperation among the three sides.
Speaking at the meeting, Ahliman Amiraslanov, head of the Azerbaijan–Türkiye inter-parliamentary working group, said that relations between the countries continue to expand steadily. He highlighted the pivotal roles of Ilham Aliyev and Recep Tayyip Erdogan in strengthening bilateral and regional ties.
Amiraslanov also pointed to the growing relations with Northern Cyprus, noting the establishment of the Azerbaijan–Northern Cyprus inter-parliamentary working group within the Milli Majlis.
Ziya Öztürkler, Speaker of the TRNC Assembly, emphasized that Northern Cyprus’s representation in the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) and TURKPA would enhance its engagement with member countries. He stressed the importance of expanding cooperation beyond Azerbaijan and Türkiye to include all Turkic states.
During the meeting, Javanshir Feyziyev, head of the Azerbaijan–Northern Cyprus inter-parliamentary working group, noted that the group was established in 2024 and has since maintained close ties through reciprocal visits and cooperation.
Meanwhile, Şamil Ayrım, head of the Türkiye–Azerbaijan inter-parliamentary friendship group, highlighted the strategic importance of strong parliamentary relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, both regionally and within the broader Turkic world. Referencing President Aliyev’s remark that “the Turkic world is our family,” he underscored the need for joint efforts to further strengthen ties across all sectors.
The trilateral meeting reaffirmed the commitment of the three sides to enhancing parliamentary collaboration and deepening unity within the Turkic world.
