Iran, France Discuss Diplomatic Efforts to De-escalate Regional Tensions
Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of Iran, and his French counterpart Jean-Noël Barrot held a telephone conversation early Saturday to discuss ongoing diplomatic initiatives aimed at reducing tensions and seeking a resolution to the conflict involving the United States and Israel, according to a statement published on the official Telegram channel of the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson.
During the discussion, both ministers reviewed recent developments in West Asia and exchanged views on diplomatic efforts intended to bring an end to hostilities reported by Iranian sources as having escalated earlier this year. The Iranian statement referred to the need for sustained dialogue to de-escalate the situation and achieve a lasting political settlement.
According to the same source, the ministers also discussed ongoing mediation efforts following a reported ceasefire arrangement that temporarily paused hostilities in April, with further diplomatic initiatives underway to maintain stability and prevent renewed escalation.
The Iranian side reiterated its position that any future agreement should ensure the full recognition of its rights within the framework of international diplomacy.
