Abu Dhabi Forum for Peace, Vatican Academy Discuss Expanding Cooperation on AI Ethics

Vatican City, The Gulf Observer: The Abu Dhabi Forum for Peace and the Vatican’s Pontifical Academy for Life (PAV) have discussed strengthening cooperation on artificial intelligence ethics and human-centered technological development, underscoring the importance of ensuring that technological progress serves humanity and upholds human dignity.
The discussions took place during a meeting between Sheikh Al-Mahfoudh bin Bayyah, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Forum for Peace, and Monsignor Renzo Pegoraro, President of the Pontifical Academy for Life.
During the meeting, both sides emphasized the need to develop comprehensive global ethical frameworks for artificial intelligence that protect human dignity while guiding the responsible use of emerging technologies. They also reviewed existing collaboration between the two institutions and explored new avenues for partnership in research, education, leadership development, and international dialogue.
The talks were held within the framework of the United Arab Emirates’ vision, led by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, which places human well-being at the center of technological advancement and sustainable development.
The two parties also examined their ongoing cooperation in the field of AI ethics. The Abu Dhabi Forum for Peace highlighted its role in organizing a number of pioneering international initiatives, including a high-level meeting at the Vatican that brought together representatives of the United Nations, major global technology companies, and academic and religious institutions to address the ethical implications of emerging technologies.
Both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to fostering international cooperation and dialogue aimed at ensuring that artificial intelligence contributes positively to society while respecting fundamental human values.
