Azerbaijan and Moldova Explore Expanded Agricultural Cooperation

Ankara, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijan’s Minister of Agriculture, Majnun Mammadov, held talks with Moldova’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, Ludmila Catlabuga, during his visit to Türkiye, focusing on expanding bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector.
During the meeting, Minister Mammadov described Azerbaijan and Moldova as friendly nations and emphasized that agriculture remains one of the most promising areas for strengthening bilateral ties.
The Azerbaijani minister also highlighted the outcomes of the 6th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Moldova Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, noting that the platform had facilitated discussions on a wide range of future cooperation initiatives, including agricultural development.
Both sides underscored the importance of ensuring food security, adapting agricultural practices to climate change, promoting innovative technologies, and enhancing the competitiveness of agricultural products in international markets.
Minister Mammadov also drew attention to the annual Caspian Agro Exhibition, inviting Moldova to participate with a national pavilion and encouraging Moldovan businesses and agricultural stakeholders to take an active role in the event.
The discussions covered several areas of potential cooperation, including strengthening the legal framework governing agricultural relations, increasing bilateral trade in agricultural products, facilitating the transfer of advanced technologies, expanding collaboration in the winemaking sector, and developing exchange programs in agricultural research and education.
The Azerbaijani side further highlighted the country’s ongoing efforts to digitalize its agricultural sector and expressed readiness to share its expertise and experience with Moldova in this field.
The meeting also included a review of the activities of the Azerbaijan-Moldova Working Group on Agriculture, with both ministers holding a comprehensive exchange of views on issues of mutual interest and reaffirming their commitment to deepening agricultural cooperation between the two countries.
The talks reflect the growing interest of Azerbaijan and Moldova in enhancing collaboration across key agricultural sectors, with a particular focus on innovation, sustainability, and food security as both nations seek to strengthen their agricultural economies and expand opportunities for bilateral trade and investment.
