Indonesia, Germany Reaffirm Strategic Partnership During Presidential Meeting in Jakarta

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier held a bilateral one-on-one meeting at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening cooperation between the two nations across a range of strategic sectors.
President Steinmeier was formally welcomed at the palace before joining President Prabowo for an official ceremony. Following the reception, the German leader signed the guest book in the presence of President Prabowo. The two heads of state then posed for an official photograph before proceeding to a private meeting in the Indonesian president’s office.
The discussions were aimed at enhancing the strategic partnership between Indonesia and Germany, with both countries expected to expand collaboration in business, energy, climate action, skilled labor recruitment, and cultural exchanges.
The visit also highlighted the shared commitment of Indonesia and Germany to democratic values, a rules-based international order, and strong multilateral cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.
As part of his visit, President Steinmeier is scheduled to engage with experts from Indonesian think tanks in a discussion focusing on the role of middle powers and Germany’s position in an evolving global order.
Earlier in the day, President Steinmeier arrived at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base in Jakarta at 9:00 a.m. local time, accompanied by First Lady Elke Büdenbender. He was received with full honors by the Indonesian National Armed Forces during a ceremonial guard of honor.
To ensure the smooth conduct of the state visit, the Jakarta Metropolitan Police deployed 585 personnel, including officers from traffic, public order, intelligence, and security units, as well as members of local police forces.
The visit underscores the growing importance of Indonesia-Germany relations and reflects both countries’ intention to deepen cooperation on regional and global challenges.
