Oman, UK Reaffirm Strategic Partnership, Discuss Regional Security and Global Stability

London, The Gulf Observer: Oman’s Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, held talks with the United Kingdom’s Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development, Yvette Cooper, at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office in London on Wednesday, reaffirming the two countries’ commitment to strengthening their longstanding strategic partnership.

During the meeting, both ministers reviewed bilateral relations and expressed their shared determination to expand cooperation across a wide range of sectors, including politics, economy, culture and scientific research.

The discussions also covered the latest regional developments and key international issues, with both sides highlighting the importance of preventive diplomacy and enhanced coordination to address regional challenges. They stressed the need to strengthen consensus-building mechanisms to mitigate risks, support de-escalation efforts and encourage dialogue as a means of promoting lasting peace and stability.

The ministers underscored the significance of safeguarding maritime security and ensuring the uninterrupted flow of global supply chains and international trade in accordance with international law.

Reaffirming the deep mutual trust and respect that have long characterised Oman-United Kingdom relations, both sides pledged to maintain close coordination on issues of common interest to further strengthen constructive cooperation and contribute to regional and international peace and stability.
