Azerbaijan, IMF Discuss Economic Outlook and Structural Reforms
Baku, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Economy Samad Bashirli held a meeting with Anna Bordon, Head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission to Azerbaijan, to discuss the country’s economic outlook, ongoing structural reforms and areas of future cooperation.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed Azerbaijan’s current and medium-term economic forecasts, with particular focus on structural reforms aimed at diversifying the national economy beyond the oil and gas sector.
Discussions also covered recent developments in tax policy and tax administration, as part of the government’s broader efforts to strengthen economic governance and improve the business environment.
The IMF delegation was briefed on Azerbaijan’s expanding state support mechanisms for entrepreneurship, investment policies designed to promote growth in the non-oil sector, and opportunities for enhanced cooperation with international financial institutions.
The meeting further highlighted the government’s commitment to fostering sustainable economic development through diversification, private sector growth and increased investment.
Both sides also exchanged views on a range of issues of mutual interest, reaffirming the importance of continued dialogue and cooperation between Azerbaijan and the International Monetary Fund in support of the country’s long-term economic development objectives.
