Kazakhstan and Austria Discuss CPC Pipeline Security and Oil Supplies to Europe

Astana, The Gulf Observer: Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev held a telephone conversation with Austria’s Federal Minister for European and International Affairs Beate Meinl-Reisinger to discuss the safety of international shipping and the uninterrupted supply of Kazakhstani oil to European markets amid developments surrounding the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC), Kazakhstan’s Foreign Ministry said.

During the call, the two ministers underscored the importance of ensuring the uninterrupted operation of the CPC pipeline route, which transports a significant share of Kazakhstan’s oil exports to European markets.

According to the Kazakh Foreign Ministry, approximately 56 percent of Austria’s crude oil imports from Kazakhstan are transported through the CPC system.

The ministers also exchanged views on current international and regional developments and discussed issues of mutual interest.

Kosherbayev congratulated Austria on its election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2027–2028 term and reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s readiness to maintain constructive cooperation with Austria within the UN framework.

The two sides stressed the importance of maintaining regular diplomatic contacts and confirmed their commitment to further developing practical bilateral cooperation on the basis of previously reached agreements.

The ministers also referred to areas of cooperation discussed during Meinl-Reisinger’s previous visit to Kazakhstan and expressed readiness to continue advancing bilateral engagement.

The conversation underscored the shared interest of Kazakhstan and Austria in maintaining stable energy supplies, strengthening diplomatic coordination and expanding practical cooperation on regional and international issues.
