Philippine Ambassador Joins Pakistan’s Independence Day Celebrations at Maroof International Hospital
Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: Philippine Ambassador to Pakistan H.E. Dr. Emmanuel R. Fernandez, accompanied by his wife, Mme. Alicia Kalaw-Fernandez, joined the leadership, management and staff of Maroof International Hospital (MIH) in commemorating Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day.
The Ambassador congratulated the people of Pakistan on their national day and underscored the importance of people-to-people relations as a key pillar of the longstanding friendship between the Philippines and Pakistan. He highlighted the shared bonds of friendship, goodwill and mutual understanding that continue to connect the two peoples.
During the visit, Ambassador Fernandez and Mme. Kalaw-Fernandez toured Maroof International Hospital and its Early Intervention Therapy Unit at Silver Oaks. They were briefed on the hospital’s healthcare, rehabilitation and specialized therapeutic services.
The Independence Day celebration featured the playing of the national anthems of Pakistan and the Philippines, symbolizing the warm and cordial relations between the two countries and their peoples.
In recognition of his participation in the celebrations, Ambassador Fernandez received an appreciation shield from MIH Chairman Ch. Naseer Ahmed, CEO Haroon Naseer and Dr. Mir Abdul Waheed.
The visit provided an important opportunity to further strengthen people-to-people connections, mutual understanding and friendship between Pakistanis and Filipinos. It also reflected the Philippine Embassy’s continued efforts to promote and deepen the people-to-people dimension of bilateral relations between the two countries.
