Jordan, Arab and Islamic Countries Condemn Israel’s Rejection of Gaza Peace Road Map

Jordan

Amman, The Gulf Observer: Jordan and a number of Arab and Islamic countries on Sunday strongly condemned Israel’s rejection of the Road Map for completing the implementation of US President Donald Trump’s Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict, as endorsed by UN Security Council Resolution 2803, as well as its rejection of Palestinian statehood.

The foreign ministers of Jordan, the UAE, Indonesia, Pakistan, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Egypt said Israel’s positions amounted to a direct repudiation of the Comprehensive Plan, jeopardised its implementation and undermined collective efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace.

According to a statement issued by Jordan’s Foreign Ministry, the ministers said Israel’s rejection confirmed that it bears responsibility for obstructing efforts to establish peace in Gaza and throughout the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

They noted that the Road Map, accepted by the Palestinian factions, was the result of extensive efforts by mediators, including Egypt, Qatar, Türkiye, the United States, the High Representative for Gaza and the Board of Peace.

The ministers described the Road Map as a vital milestone towards the decommissioning of weapons alongside the withdrawal of Israeli forces, deployment of the International Stabilisation Force, transfer of administrative authority to the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, and reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, in accordance with the Comprehensive Plan.

They stressed that rejecting the Road Map constituted an explicit refusal to proceed with implementation of the Comprehensive Plan and directly threatened to derail the extensive efforts led by US President Trump to end the war in Gaza and create conditions for lasting peace.

The ministers also emphasised the need for sustained and active US engagement to ensure and enforce Israel’s full compliance with the commitments and arrangements outlined in the Comprehensive Plan and its Road Map, and to prevent further obstruction of their implementation.

They further stressed that Israel bears direct and full responsibility for any consequences arising from its continued rejection, obstruction, delay or non-compliance, including any deterioration of the situation on the ground and disruption of efforts to end the conflict in Gaza.

The foreign ministers reiterated the urgent need for the full and immediate implementation of the Comprehensive Plan to address the grave humanitarian situation, ensure security and stability in Gaza, facilitate reconstruction and recovery, and advance a just and lasting peace based on the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and statehood in accordance with international law.

They categorically rejected any attempts to deny or preclude Palestinian statehood, including through unilateral measures.

“A just, lasting and comprehensive peace can only be achieved through the implementation of the two-State solution and the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state along the borders of pre-1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international law and relevant United Nations resolutions,” the statement said.

The ministers warned that any attempt to deny or foreclose Palestinian statehood would directly undermine prospects for peace, security and stability across the region.

They also underscored the importance of maintaining the role of the Board of Peace and called on all parties to support its efforts to implement the Road Map and advance the second phase of President Trump’s Comprehensive Plan.

The ministers further called on the Board of Peace, with active US support and engagement, to take immediate and concrete measures within its mandate to safeguard the integrity of the Comprehensive Plan and prevent any party from obstructing its implementation.
