Abu Dhabi AI Council Reviews Progress on AI and Advanced Technology Priorities

Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: In the presence of H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Vice-Chairman of the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council (AIATC), H.H. Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the AIATC, chaired a meeting of the Council on October 6.
The meeting reviewed progress across key priorities supporting Abu Dhabi’s artificial intelligence and advanced technology ecosystem, including the UAE-US AI Campus in Abu Dhabi, AI research, specialised talent development and open AI models.
The Council also reviewed Abu Dhabi Government’s progress towards its objective of becoming the world’s first fully AI-native government by 2027.
Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed affirmed that Abu Dhabi’s ambition goes beyond adopting artificial intelligence, extending to the development of AI technologies and the creation of an economy built around them.
He emphasised the importance of directing investment, research and international partnerships towards establishing a sustainable scientific and technological foundation in the emirate.
Such efforts, he noted, would enable Abu Dhabi’s people and institutions to generate knowledge, establish new industries and develop a government model in which artificial intelligence is integrated into core operations.
The meeting was attended by Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Secretary-General of the Council, along with Council members Dr Ahmed Mubarak bin Nawi Al Mazrouei, Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Jassem Mohamed Bu Ataba Al Zaabi, Humaid Obaid Abushibs, Mohamed Hassan Al Suwaidi, Faisal Abdulaziz Al Bannai, Ahmed Tamim Hisham Al Kuttab and Peng Xiao.
Saif Saeed Ghobash, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Chairman of the Crown Prince’s Office, also attended the meeting.
The Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council is Abu Dhabi’s supreme authority responsible for artificial intelligence and advanced technology projects, investments and research. It oversees the development of related policies, strategies, frameworks and priorities covering investment, research and development.
