Tashkent to Host Uzbek-Japanese Agro-Food Industry Development Forum
Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: The long-anticipated Uzbek-Japanese Forum on the Development of the Agro-food Industry, featuring a presentation of Japanese cuisine, will be held on June 24, 2024, at the International Hotel Tashkent. This event marks a significant milestone in the trade-economic cooperation and friendly ties between Uzbekistan and Japan.
The forum is officially organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan (MAFF), with participation and coordination from the Japan-Uzbekistan Silk Road Foundation, a general incorporated foundation headquartered in Tokyo. The event is conducted under the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between MAFF Japan and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The forum precedes the Summit of the Heads of the five Central Asian states and Japan, scheduled for August 2024 in the region. It is co-organized with the active participation and assistance of the Embassies of both countries, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Other key contributors include the Uzbekistan-Japan Center for Human Development (Uzbek-Japan Center) and “Uzbekistan Airways” JSC.
A delegation from Japan, including representatives from relevant governmental organizations, top management, specialists from companies, regional administrations, and agricultural cooperatives (JA), will participate in the forum. They will present the best practices, know-how from Japan, and explore new prospects for cooperation between the two nations.
The forum aims to explore new opportunities for expanding business contacts and export cooperation in the agro-industrial sector. Discussions will focus on leveraging Japan’s innovative potential and scientific achievements to benefit Uzbekistan’s agricultural industry.
In addition to the discussions, the event will feature an exhibition of Japanese cuisine, renowned for its association with longevity. Attendees will have the opportunity to experience Japanese dishes made from rice varieties of Higashikawa town in Hokkaido prefecture, premium fish products, globally popular varieties of Japanese tea, and sweets, all presented by Japanese culinary specialists.
The Uzbek-Japanese Forum on the Development of the Agro-food Industry is expected to strengthen bilateral relations and pave the way for enhanced collaboration in agriculture and food production between Uzbekistan and Japan.
