Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan to Enhance Multimodal Cargo Transportation Routes

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan are set to enhance multimodal cargo transportation along the Central Asia-Europe-Central Asia and China-Europe-China routes. This strategic initiative was discussed during a working visit by Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC (ADY), Rovshan Rustamov, to Turkmenistan, as reported by media.

In Ashgabat, Rustamov engaged in discussions with Azat Atamuradov, Chairman of the Turkmenistan Railways Agency, and a high-level delegation from the Turkmenistan Seaways Agency. The meetings focused on strengthening relations between the two countries in the railway sector, emphasizing the significance of cargo circulation and the potential for increasing the volume of multimodal cargo transportation along these crucial international routes.

Both parties highlighted the great potential for cooperation and the importance of introducing these transportation opportunities to the European market. The discussions underscored the mutual benefits of bolstering the Central Asia-Europe-Central Asia and China-Europe-China cargo routes, which are vital for regional and global trade.

During his visit, Rustamov also met with representatives from state concerns Turkmanneft, Turkmengas, Turkmenkimya, and the heads of the State Raw Materials and Products Exchange of Turkmenistan. He provided detailed information about ADY’s efforts to expand the opportunities of the Middle Corridor, further illustrating Azerbaijan’s commitment to enhancing regional connectivity and trade.

This initiative marks a significant step towards improving the efficiency and capacity of cargo transportation between Central Asia, Europe, and China, fostering stronger economic ties and facilitating smoother trade flows between the regions.
