“Alien: Romulus” Tops Chinese Box Office on Second Day of Screening

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: 20th Century Studios’ sci-fi thriller “Alien: Romulus” emerged as the leader at the Chinese mainland’s daily box office on Saturday, according to the China Movie Data Information Network. The film, which marks the seventh installment of the acclaimed “Alien” franchise, earned approximately 63.99 million yuan (about 8.95 million U.S. dollars) on its second day of release.
“Alien: Romulus” follows a group of young space colonists who encounter a terrifying extraterrestrial life form while exploring a derelict space station. The film’s strong performance reflects its continued popularity among audiences.
In second place was the Japanese animated film “Detective Conan: The Million-Dollar Pentagram,” which grossed around 40.94 million yuan on Saturday. The film’s success underscores the enduring appeal of the “Detective Conan” series in China.
Domestic crime drama “Go for Broke” secured the third spot with a box office revenue of 36.87 million yuan.
Overall, the total box office revenue on the Chinese mainland for Saturday reached 220.15 million yuan, highlighting a vibrant and competitive film market.
