Araghchi Reports Progress in Iran-US Talks Facilitated by Pakistan and Qatar

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has outlined the outcomes of negotiations between Iran and the United States, facilitated by Pakistan and Qatar, aimed at achieving a permanent end to the conflict that erupted earlier this year.
In a post on X early Monday, Araghchi shared a photograph of a joint statement issued by Pakistan and Qatar following the first round of quadrilateral talks held in Bürgenstock on Sunday.
Araghchi was part of the Iranian delegation led by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, alongside several senior officials. Prior to the meeting, the delegation stated that the talks were intended to ensure the implementation of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) electronically signed by the Iranian and US presidents several days earlier. The agreement calls for an end to hostilities across multiple fronts, including in Lebanon.
Commenting on the negotiations, Araghchi said that sustained mediation efforts by Pakistan and Qatar had produced significant progress toward ending the conflict. He noted that measures discussed included waivers on Iranian oil and petrochemical exports, the lifting of a naval blockade, the release of certain frozen assets, and the launch of a major reconstruction and development initiative for Iran.
The Iranian foreign minister also pointed to the planned establishment of a Lebanon deconfliction mechanism as an initial test of the understandings reached during the talks.
According to Iranian officials, the reconstruction and development program is intended to address damage caused by military strikes during the conflict, while the easing of economic restrictions is expected to support recovery efforts and regional stability.
The negotiations in Switzerland mark a significant diplomatic effort involving Iran, the United States, Pakistan, and Qatar, with all sides seeking to consolidate recent understandings and advance a broader framework for peace and post-conflict recovery.
