Brunei’s PM Office Hosts Surah Yaasiin and Tahlil Recitation Ceremony for Late Bruneian Royals

Bandar Seri Begawan, The Gulf Observer: Brunei’s PM Office (PMO) and its departments held a solemn Surah Yaasiin and Tahlil recitation ceremony yesterday afternoon to honor the late Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam, the late Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Bendahara Pengiran Anak Abdul Rahman, and the late His Royal Highness Prince Haji ‘Abdul ‘Azim.
Leading the delegation from the PMO and its departments were Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II, Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, and Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II, Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah.
The recitation of Surah Yaasiin was led by Deputy State Mufti, Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Japar bin Haji Mat Dain @ Maidin, followed by the mass recitation of Tahlil, led by Assistant Mufti (Buhuth), Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mazanan bin Haji Yusof. Meanwhile, Doa Tahlil and Doa Peliharakan Sultan were read by Chief Syar’ie Judge, Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar.
The ceremony was attended by deputy ministers, permanent secretaries, deputy permanent secretaries, invited guests, and officers and personnel from the PMO and its departments.
Held at the Royal Mausoleum in Bandar Seri Begawan, this annual religious event is a significant tradition of the PMO and its departments. The ceremony was organised by the Media-Info Office and the International Office, in collaboration with the Adat Istiadat Department and the Anti-Corruption Bureau as joint organisers for this year’s observance.
