China Sees Significant Surge in Electric Vehicle Charging Facilities in 2024

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: China has experienced a notable increase in electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, with the total number of charging poles reaching 12.82 million by the end of 2024, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers. This marks a substantial 49.1 percent year-on-year growth.

Out of the total, approximately 3.58 million were public charging poles, while private charging poles accounted for nearly 9.24 million. In 2024 alone, China added over 4.22 million new charging poles to support the growing demand for new energy vehicles (NEVs).

The rapid expansion of charging facilities aligns with the rising demand for NEVs in the country. Both the production and sales of NEVs surpassed 12 million units in 2024, cementing China’s status as the world’s largest market for NEVs for the 10th consecutive year. This development further underscores the country’s commitment to advancing its green energy transition and promoting sustainable transportation solutions.
