Fidan Attends EU Ministerial Meeting on Cross-Regional Security in Luxembourg

Luxembourg, The Gulf Observer: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on Monday participated in the Ministerial Meeting on Cross-Regional Security and Connectivity, held as part of the EU Foreign Affairs Council, the Turkish Foreign Ministry announced.
According to a statement shared on the Turkish social media platform NSosyal, the meeting — officially titled “Ministerial Meeting on Security, Stability, and Resilience in the Black Sea Region” — took place in Luxembourg, bringing together regional and European leaders to discuss strategic cooperation and stability.
During his visit, Fidan also held bilateral meetings with Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis and Marta Kos, the EU Commissioner for Enlargement, the ministry said.
Türkiye has been an official candidate for European Union membership since 1999, with accession negotiations beginning in 2005. However, progress has slowed in recent years due to political and institutional challenges within the EU-Türkiye relationship.
Ankara has repeatedly called on the European Union to revitalize the accession process, urging the bloc to treat Türkiye fairly and to acknowledge its strategic importance in regional stability, energy connectivity, and international security.
Fidan’s participation in the Luxembourg meeting reflects Türkiye’s continued engagement with European partners on issues of mutual interest, including security, resilience, and cross-regional cooperation in the Black Sea and beyond.
