Indonesia and Vietnam Forge Agricultural and Aquaculture Collaboration
Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesia and Vietnam are exploring avenues of cooperation in the agricultural and aquaculture sectors, as announced by Minister of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), Teten Masduki.
During a meeting with Hyim Kdoh, the chairperson of Vietnam’s Dak Lak province People’s Committee, Masduki emphasized the pivotal roles both countries play in the region’s agricultural and aquaculture domains.
“We are keen on fostering collaboration with Vietnam to elevate the quality and quantity of agricultural and fishery products in our respective nations,” Masduki stated in a ministry press release.
The envisioned collaboration encompasses a multifaceted approach, including the modernization of agriculture and aquaculture businesses through digitalization, alongside intensive research and development efforts aimed at enhancing the quality and competitiveness of agricultural and fishery products in the global marketplace.
Moreover, Indonesia and Vietnam are poised to collaborate in forging innovative business models and partnerships within fisheries and agricultural supply chains across the region.
Masduki highlighted the diverse array of commodities being cultivated in Indonesia, ranging from seaweed, shrimp, and eel to palm oil, coconut, and an assortment of agricultural produce such as red ginger, rice, fruits, bamboo, and rattan. Meanwhile, Vietnam’s focus lies in the development of barramundi fish, shrimp, and lobster.
Drawing attention to Indonesia’s abundant agricultural offerings, including durian, mango, and jackfruit, Masduki underscored the promising cooperation prospects between the two nations.
“The Indonesian government’s strategic policy is geared towards promoting value addition to natural resource-based products, encompassing agricultural and aquaculture commodities. With several key commodities shared between our nations, collaboration holds immense potential for enhancing production quality,” Masduki elaborated.
As Indonesia and Vietnam embark on this collaborative journey, they anticipate forging robust ties that not only bolster their agricultural and aquaculture sectors but also contribute to regional economic growth and prosperity.
