Muscat Hosts Opening of COMEX 2025 Global Technology Exhibition

Muscat, The Gulf Observer: The 34th edition of the Global Technology Exhibition COMEX 2025 opened today at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre under the patronage of His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs.

The exhibition showcases cutting-edge trends in technology, with a focus on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, space industry advancements, digital transformation, and innovative solutions across multiple sectors.

During the opening ceremony, agreements worth OMR 42 million were signed in the field of digital transformation. In addition, government institutions launched several electronic platforms and applications, including the National Platform for Suggestions, Complaints, and Reports (Tajawab).

His Excellency the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Communications and Information Technology emphasized the government’s vision for the digital economy:

“The digital economy’s contribution to the targeted GDP is 10 percent by 2040.”

He noted the growing momentum of digital investments, recalling that agreements signed during COMEX 2024 amounted to nearly OMR 200 million, while Omani technology companies signed agreements worth around OMR 40 million at the LEAP 2025 conference in Saudi Arabia.

As part of COMEX 2025, a number of new initiatives and projects were unveiled, including:

  • 30 new services in the unified portal for digital services
  • A new mobile application and smart assistant
  • The national portal for open data
  • “Thiqa” digital certification services
  • The Omani language model Ma’een

The exhibition is set to continue with panel discussions, presentations, and product showcases, reinforcing Oman’s growing role as a hub for digital innovation and investment in the region.
