Oman and France Reaffirm Strategic Ties, Emphasize Dialogue and Global Trade Stability

Muscat, The Gulf Observer: Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi on Thursday received Jean-Noël Barrot, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic, at the General Diwan of the Foreign Ministry in Muscat.

During the meeting, the two ministers reviewed bilateral relations between the Sultanate of Oman and France, underscoring the importance of sustaining the positive momentum in cooperation across various sectors. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening ties and expanding collaboration in areas of mutual interest.

The discussions also covered a range of regional and international developments, including relations between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and France. The ministers emphasized the need for enhanced coordination, intensified consultations, and joint efforts to address ongoing global challenges.

Highlighting the importance of diplomacy, both Oman and France reiterated their support for dialogue-based approaches to conflict resolution. They expressed their shared commitment to fostering trust, promoting peaceful coexistence, and advancing constructive international cooperation to ensure regional and global stability.

In addition, the two sides explored avenues to strengthen global supply chains, facilitate maritime navigation, and ensure the smooth flow of trade, particularly through the strategic Strait of Hormuz. They stressed the importance of removing existing obstacles to international shipping and supporting the stability of the global economy.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from both countries, including Munthir Mahfoudh Al Manthiri, Head of the Europe Department at Oman’s Foreign Ministry, and Nabil Hajlaoui, Ambassador of the French Republic to the Sultanate of Oman.
