Oman and UK Discuss Regional Security, Emphasize Maritime Safety and De-escalation Efforts

Muscat, The Gulf Observer: Oman’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi held talks with Edward Llewellyn, Political Director General at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, to review regional developments and explore avenues for enhanced cooperation.
During the meeting, both sides discussed a range of issues of mutual interest, focusing primarily on the latest regional developments and their broader implications. The discussions underscored the importance of advancing de-escalation efforts and promoting sustainable political and diplomatic solutions.
Lord Llewellyn was briefed on Oman’s perspective regarding the critical need to safeguard maritime security, particularly in strategic waterways such as the Strait of Hormuz. Minister Al Busaidi emphasized the importance of ensuring the uninterrupted flow of international navigation to protect global supply chains and maintain economic stability.
Both parties also stressed the significance of strengthening cooperation and coordination in security and maritime domains, including the exchange of expertise. They reaffirmed their commitment to supporting regional stability, upholding international law, and reinforcing the principles of freedom of navigation.
