PM Chính Chairs Third Meeting of Southeast Region Steering Committee

Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính presided over the third meeting of the Southeast Region Steering Committee, held in Tây Ninh Province, with a focused agenda on the “Implementation of the Southeast Region Development Plan for the period 2021-30, with a vision to 2050.” The conference convened prominent figures including Secretary of the HCM City Party Committee Nguyễn Văn Nên, and various ministers and officials from relevant ministries, central committees, and local authorities.

The Southeast region, comprising Ho Chi Minh City and five provinces including Đồng Nai, Bình Dương, Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu, Bình Phước, and Tây Ninh, stands as a cornerstone of Vietnam’s economic landscape. Despite covering a mere 7.1 per cent of the country’s landmass and hosting 18.9 per cent of its population, the region boasts substantial contributions, representing 31 per cent of Vietnam’s GDP, 38 per cent of the total state budget revenue, and 32 per cent of the nation’s exports.

Addressing the assembly, Prime Minister Chính underscored the paramount importance of finalizing the Southeast Region Development Plan to delineate spatial allocations for national industries, foster crucial connectivity projects, and leverage the region’s economic prowess for sustainable growth. He highlighted the region’s pivotal role as a dynamic economic hub, championing innovation and serving as the nation’s economic engine.

Emphasizing the need for accelerated development and enhanced connectivity, PM Chính emphasized the modernization of policy mechanisms and strategic infrastructure, aligned with contemporary development paradigms. He advocated for a shift towards new growth drivers such as digital transformation and green initiatives while prioritizing strategic breakthroughs in infrastructure, human resources, and institutional reform.

PM Chính further stressed the imperative of a people-centric approach, urging the preservation of social justice and environmental integrity amidst economic advancements. To this end, he outlined key directives, including the formulation of an implementation plan characterized by openness, infrastructural harmony, and intelligent governance.

The conference concluded with a consensus on the imperative of pragmatic, people-oriented policies, informed by regional dynamics and global contexts. Prime Minister Chính’s directives resonated with the shared commitment to fostering inclusive, sustainable development across the Southeast region.
