President Tokayev Awards Officers on Fatherland Defender’s Day, Honors Kazakhstan’s WWII Legacy

Astana, The Gulf Observer: President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan, participated in a formal ceremony to confer state awards and grant the highest military, special, and class ranks to officers and soldiers, according to media reports. The event was held in commemoration of Fatherland Defender’s Day.

In his address, President Tokayev congratulated the recipients and extended his best wishes to all members of the armed forces. He emphasized the significance of the day in fostering national unity and recognizing the sacrifices made in defense of the country.

The President also highlighted the upcoming 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, underscoring its enduring importance in Kazakhstan’s historical memory.

“Undoubtedly, the bloodiest war in the history of mankind turned out to be the most difficult test for all nations. More than 1.2 million of our countrymen left for the war. More than half of them did not return from the battlefield,” he said. “Home-front workers devoted all their strength and energy for the name of a common goal. Kazakhstanis made an invaluable contribution to the Victory.”

President Tokayev noted that the holiday not only symbolizes bravery and heroism but also serves as a powerful reminder of the value of peace, unity, and solidarity. He underscored its role in educating the younger generation about the sacrifices of their forebears and the importance of national resilience.

The ceremony reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to honoring its military traditions and paying tribute to those who have served and sacrificed for the nation’s sovereignty and peace.
