During the visit, art historian Olga Baturina guided President Tokayev through the “Painting of the Steppe: Symbols, Colors, Images” exposition, which features an impressive collection of works by talented Kazakhstani artists. Highlighting the exhibition was the original painting “Beautiful Princess” (La Bella Principessa) by the illustrious Italian artist Leonardo da Vinci.
This masterpiece, brought to the Kazakh capital through the efforts of the Italian publishing house Scripta Maneant, marks a significant cultural milestone as it commemorates the 10th anniversary of the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Notably, this is the first time the painting, created during the High Renaissance, is being exhibited outside Europe.
The exhibition, organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Embassy of the Italian Republic, and the Italian Institute of Culture, will be open to the public in Astana until August 4, 2023. This collaboration underscores the cultural bonds between Kazakhstan and Italy, offering the public a rare opportunity to experience a piece of global art history.
