Serbia and Iran Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Ties

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Iran’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Sattar Hashemi, held a meeting to discuss the enhancement of bilateral relations between the two nations.

President Vučić, in a statement on his Instagram account, described the meeting as sincere and constructive, expressing gratitude to Minister Hashemi for conveying a message from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

A key highlight of the discussions was Iran’s confirmed participation in the 2027 EXPO exhibition, as outlined in President Pezeshkian’s letter. Vučić welcomed this development, emphasizing Serbia’s anticipation of Iran’s representation at the global event. The two sides also explored avenues for economic cooperation in multiple sectors, including energy, health tourism, agriculture, and information and communication technology (ICT).

“The focus of our discussions was on the optimal use of existing capacities to expand cooperation in various fields, particularly in ICT, where both countries see great potential,” President Vučić noted.

Additionally, Vučić stated that President Pezeshkian’s letter referenced a proposed memorandum of cooperation between Serbia and Iran in the field of information technology. The Serbian leader expressed his support for the agreement, highlighting its potential to foster innovative solutions in telecommunications, digital skills, information security, and data center development.

Beyond economic collaboration, Vučić acknowledged and appreciated Iran’s steadfast support for Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. He emphasized that Iran’s position aligns with the principles of international law and underscores the strong diplomatic ties between the two nations.

The meeting reflects the commitment of both Serbia and Iran to deepening their partnership across various domains, paving the way for expanded cooperation in the coming years.
