Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi Chairs 14th Meeting of Sharjah Education Academy Board of Trustees
Sharjah, The Gulf Observer: His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, chaired the 14th meeting of the Sharjah Education Academy (SEA) Board of Trustees on Sunday, held at the Academy’s headquarters in the University City of Sharjah.
At the outset of the meeting, Sheikh Sultan welcomed the attending Board members, commending their significant contributions to the Academy’s efforts in advancing educational and pedagogical initiatives. He also expressed appreciation for the continued support provided by the Board in fostering educational development in the region.
The Ruler of Sharjah extended a warm welcome to the new members of the Board, both from within the UAE and internationally, highlighting their diverse expertise in educational, social, financial, and legal fields, which enhances the Board’s work and strengthens its impact on various educational programs, particularly in early childhood education.
In his address, Sheikh Sultan emphasized the importance of adopting Arabic as the primary language of instruction in Sharjah government nurseries, underscoring the need to educate both children and parents on healthy food choices and their role in the holistic development of children’s health, mental well-being, and physical growth. He also stressed the importance of parental involvement in the educational process for its success.
Sheikh Sultan approved the designs for the proposed expansion of the current Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) building, which includes several new facilities while preserving the existing green spaces. The expansion plans include a specialized training center for early childhood education and a new sports facility for physical training, both indoor and outdoor.
During the meeting, the Council reviewed several key reports, including updates on the achievements and statistics of SPEA for the current year. A detailed report on the fourth edition of the Sharjah International Summit for the Development of Education, scheduled for 2025, was also discussed.
The Council further examined the annual report on the achievements and statistics of Sharjah’s nurseries, which included updates on enrollment numbers and expansion efforts to accommodate the growing demand for nursery spaces. Additionally, the report highlighted the progress of the central kitchen project for nurseries and plans for the construction of new nurseries in the upcoming academic year.
The meeting was attended by key figures, including Dr. Muhadditha Al Hashimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Academy; Mohammed Obaid Al Shamsi, Director-General of the Sharjah Social Security Fund (SSSF); and prominent international experts in education from institutions such as Monash University, the University of Helsinki, and the University of Kalba.
