Trump Extends Ceasefire with Iran Following Pakistan’s Request

Washington, The Gulf Observer: Donald Trump on Wednesday announced the extension of the ceasefire with Iran, citing a request from Pakistan’s leadership, including Shehbaz Sharif and Asim Munir, as diplomatic efforts continue to de-escalate tensions.
In a statement posted on Truth Social, President Trump said the decision was made in light of the evolving situation in Iran and to allow time for its leadership to present a unified proposal.
“Upon the request of Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan, we have been asked to hold our attack on Iran until such time as their leaders and representatives can come up with a unified proposal,” Trump stated.
He noted that while the ceasefire would remain in effect, the United States would continue to maintain strategic pressure. Trump confirmed that he had directed the US military to sustain the blockade and remain fully prepared for any developments.
“I have therefore directed our military to continue the blockade and, in all other respects, remain ready and able, and will extend the ceasefire until such time as their proposal is submitted, and discussions are concluded,” he added.
The development reflects ongoing diplomatic engagement involving Pakistan, which has been actively advocating dialogue and restraint amid heightened regional tensions, while efforts continue to secure a negotiated outcome.
