Wang Yi Meets Senegalese Foreign Minister Yacine Fall in Beijing
Beijing, The Gulf Observer: On Sunday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Senegalese Foreign Minister Yacine Fall in Beijing, emphasizing the strong mutual trust and cooperation between China and Senegal.
Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted the solid foundation of mutual trust that has been established between the two nations. He expressed China’s readiness to work alongside Senegal to advance the China-Senegal comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, ensuring that it remains relevant in the modern era.
“China is willing to closely cooperate with Senegal to make the upcoming Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit a grand event that strengthens solidarity and friendship between China and Africa,” Wang stated. He praised FOCAC for its significant contributions to Africa’s development, noting its role as a key symbol of South-South cooperation and a driver of international cooperation with Africa.
In response, Senegalese Foreign Minister Yacine Fall underscored the exemplary nature of the Senegal-China relationship, which she described as being built on mutual respect and ongoing cooperation. She announced that Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye will pay a state visit to China during the 2024 FOCAC Summit. This visit, which will be President Faye’s first to a country outside Africa, is seen as an opportunity to deepen the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Senegal and China.
The meeting between the two foreign ministers reinforces the strong ties between China and Senegal, with both sides committed to further enhancing their partnership and fostering greater collaboration at the upcoming FOCAC Summit.
