Turkish and Turkmen FMs Discuss Enhanced Economic Cooperation in Ankara
Ankara, The Gulf Observer: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with his Turkmen counterpart, Rashid Meredov, in Ankara on Wednesday to explore avenues for deepening economic cooperation between their two nations through potential new agreements, diplomatic sources reported.
During the meeting, the ministers focused on strengthening bilateral economic ties and discussed strategies for increasing the trade volume between Türkiye and Turkmenistan, setting an ambitious target of $5 billion. The discussions highlighted the importance of creating new agreements to facilitate this enhanced cooperation.
A key topic of the meeting was the exploration of opportunities for the transmission of Turkmen natural gas to Turkish and European markets. Both ministers evaluated the potential for cooperation in this strategic sector, emphasizing the mutual benefits of such an initiative.
In addition to economic matters, Fidan and Meredov also exchanged views on pressing international issues, including the latest developments in Gaza and the ongoing situation in Ukraine, according to the sources.
