President Jokowi Urges Cabinet to Ensure Stability Ahead of Government Transition
Nusantara, The Gulf Observer: President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has called on his cabinet ministers and heads of state institutions to maintain national stability and avoid any turmoil during the transition period until the new government is officially established. He made this statement while presiding over a Plenary Cabinet Session at the Garuda Palace in Indonesia’s new capital, IKN Nusantara, on Friday.
“Let us maintain the conducive situation. We need stability to grow and carry out development. Let us ensure there is no turmoil until the next government is formed,” President Jokowi emphasized in his opening remarks.
The President urged his ministers to prioritize economic stability during his remaining term, calling for efforts to protect the people’s purchasing power, control inflation, and foster economic growth. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining security and order, cautioning against issuing “extreme” policies that could negatively impact the community.
“Do not make extreme policies, especially those related to people’s lives, which have the potential to harm the wider community and eventually cause turmoil,” President Jokowi remarked.
Among those present at the session were Defense Minister and President-elect Prabowo Subianto, along with Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, who is also a contender for Jakarta’s governorship. President Jokowi’s directives reflect his commitment to ensuring a smooth and stable transition of power.
Earlier, on Thursday, September 12, President Jokowi also called on the Indonesian Military (TNI) and the National Police (Polri) to support the incoming administration and uphold national stability. He urged the security forces to fully back the transition, noting that the new government, led by President-elect Prabowo Subianto, will continue the country’s governance.
President Jokowi, in his final month of office, has begun working from Nusantara and will remain there until October 19, 2024, signaling a strong focus on the new capital as a symbol of Indonesia’s future.
