Tashkent Hosts the 4th World Conference on Creative Economy

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: The 4th World Conference on Creative Economy (WCCE), themed “Inclusively Creative: A Shifted Reality”, commenced today in Tashkent. The event, organized by the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation with the support of Indonesian partners, the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), aims to explore the role of creative industries in shaping a sustainable future amidst rapid technological advancements.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov and Saida Mirziyoyeva, Assistant to the President of Uzbekistan. The conference has attracted over 2,000 industry representatives from 75 countries, who will engage in discussions on socio-economic challenges and opportunities presented by the creative economy.

Key events include a ministerial meeting focused on the creative economy, an exhibition highlighting achievements in the global creative industries and Uzbekistan, as well as workshops, masterclasses, and practical sessions aimed at fostering innovation. The conference will also feature the opening of new art residences at the Center for Contemporary Art in Tashkent, further enhancing the country’s cultural landscape.

First launched in Indonesia in 2018, WCCE plays a vital role in promoting international collaboration to support sustainable economic growth, emphasizing the transition from a resource-based economy to a knowledge-based economy.
