China and Vietnam Pledge High-Quality Cooperation

Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: Chinese Premier Li Qiang reaffirmed China’s commitment to fostering high-level cooperation with Vietnam during his meeting with To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and Vietnamese President, in Hanoi on Saturday.

Premier Li conveyed warm greetings from Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chinese President, and emphasized the strong relationship between the two nations. He highlighted that in August, top leaders from China and Vietnam had laid out a strategic roadmap for building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future. This, he said, would guide the future of bilateral relations and deepen cooperation across various sectors.

“China is ready to expand economic and trade cooperation with Vietnam, ensuring high-quality and high-level partnerships in various fields,” said Premier Li. He further stressed China’s willingness to work with Vietnam to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of both countries, which includes strengthening their traditional friendship, enhancing high-level exchanges, and deepening strategic coordination.

Li outlined six key goals for the two countries, focusing on bolstering political mutual trust, improving security cooperation, strengthening practical collaboration, deepening people-to-people ties, enhancing multilateral coordination, and effectively managing differences.

A major focus of the meeting was infrastructure connectivity. Li called for joint efforts to advance both “hard connectivity” in areas such as railways, expressways, and ports, and “soft connectivity” in sectors like smart customs, which will enhance trade and investment facilitation while ensuring stability in industrial and supply chains.

The Chinese Premier also expressed China’s readiness to explore the establishment of cross-border economic cooperation zones and expand collaboration in emerging fields like information technology, new energy, the digital economy, and key minerals. Cultural exchanges were also highlighted as a key component of the growing partnership.

Li added that China and Vietnam should collaborate under the framework of the three major global initiatives and work toward a multipolar world order that promotes inclusive economic globalization, with the aim of safeguarding stability and prosperity in Asia.

In response, To Lam expressed his gratitude for Xi Jinping’s greetings and congratulated China on the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. He emphasized Vietnam’s dedication to strengthening ties with China, viewing their relationship as a strategic priority in Vietnam’s foreign policy.

To Lam reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to the one-China policy and opposition to all forms of “Taiwan independence” separatist activities. He also underscored Vietnam’s readiness to celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations with China next year, with a focus on deepening cooperation in trade, investment, finance, agriculture, and people-to-people exchanges.

Vietnam, he said, fully supports China’s Belt and Road Initiative and other global frameworks, expressing a willingness to enhance collaboration in multilateral settings to contribute to regional and global peace and prosperity.

The meeting underscores the growing significance of the China-Vietnam relationship, as both nations work towards a future of shared development and regional stability.
