Amman, The Gulf Observer: Morocco’s karate team secured an impressive third-place finish at the Arab Karate Championship held in Amman, Jordan, bringing home a total of 20 medals.

The championship featured intense competition among 330 athletes representing nine nations, including Iraq, Libya, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Yemen, Kuwait, Palestine, and host nation Jordan.

Morocco’s Medal Achievements

Gold Medalists in Kumite:

  • Saïd Oubaya (Under 67kg)
  • Elias Laafou (Over 70kg)
  • Ahmed Haddadi (Under 60kg)
  • Souhaib Azibou (Under 57kg)
  • Wadiâ Benouri (61kg)

Gold in Kata:

  • Adam Rachouq (Seniors’ Division)

Bronze Medalists:

  • Douâa Choukri (Under 61kg, both senior and under-21 categories)
  • Salma Sour (Under 55kg)
  • Rabii Zouidi (Under 68kg)
  • Rmissa Targou (Under 53kg)
  • Aya Nassri and Israa El Kahri (Kata Juniors)

Egypt led the medal table with 51 medals, including 32 golds, while Jordan followed in second place with 91 medals, 15 of them gold.

Future Karate Events in Morocco

Looking ahead, Morocco is preparing to host the World Karate Championships for Cadets, Juniors, and U21 athletes in 2026. The event will take place from October 14 to 18 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat, bringing together top young karate talents from around the globe.
