Azerbaijani, UK Foreign Ministers Discuss Bilateral Ties and Regional Security

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov held a telephone conversation on June 17 with David Lammy, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom, to discuss a range of bilateral and regional issues.
The two ministers reviewed the current state and future prospects of Azerbaijan–UK cooperation, as well as regional developments, including the evolving security situation stemming from the Israel–Iran confrontation. They also discussed the ongoing peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, reaffirming the importance of maintaining momentum toward a lasting settlement.
During the exchange, Minister Lammy extended congratulations on the occasion of Azerbaijan’s National Salvation Day and expressed appreciation for the congratulatory message received from Baku on the occasion of the United Kingdom’s national holiday — the King’s Birthday. He also conveyed gratitude for the letter of condolence sent by President Ilham Aliyev following the recent Air India passenger plane crash near Ahmedabad, which resulted in the deaths of several British nationals.
Minister Bayramov thanked his counterpart for the kind messages and offered his own condolences regarding the tragedy.
Both ministers voiced deep concern over the heightened tensions in the region due to the Israel–Iran conflict, emphasizing the need for continued diplomatic engagement and constructive dialogue to avoid further escalation and safeguard regional stability.
The call also included an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest, underscoring the shared commitment to strengthening cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom across various fields.
