Czech Ministers Welcome White House Talks as ‘Step Toward Peace’ in Ukraine

Prague, The Gulf Observer: Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský hailed Monday’s high-level meeting at the White House between U.S. President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and several European leaders as “another step toward peace.” He called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to halt missile strikes and return to the negotiating table.

Minister for European Affairs Martin Dvořák offered a more cautious assessment, noting that while the talks did not deliver a major breakthrough, they remained significant. He highlighted that discussions included pledges of long-term security guarantees for Ukraine, which could extend to the deployment of U.S. forces.

Following the meeting, the Kremlin reported that President Trump held a 40-minute phone call with President Putin. Both leaders reportedly agreed to maintain close communication on the conflict in Ukraine.

The White House meeting comes amid ongoing efforts by Washington and European capitals to secure a path toward de-escalation while reinforcing support for Kyiv’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
