Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iran’s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Abbas Salehi, visited the National Library of Spain on Sunday as part of his official trip to attend the UNESCO Mondiacult 2025 Conference in Barcelona.
During his visit to Madrid, Minister Salehi held a brief meeting with the head of the National Library of Spain before touring various departments of the historic and monumental complex. He was accompanied by the Iranian Cultural Counselor in Spain and the Secretary General of the UNESCO Commission in Iran.
Throughout the visit, Spanish officials provided detailed explanations about the library’s structure, operations, and its vast collection of books, manuscripts, and rare archival materials.
At the conclusion of the tour, Minister Salehi extended an official invitation to the head of the National Library of Spain to visit Iran. He also underscored the importance of finalizing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the national libraries of both countries, a process currently being facilitated by the Cultural Counselor of the Iranian Embassy in Spain.
Salehi’s visit to Spain coincided with his participation in the UNESCO Mondiacult 2025 Summit, held in Barcelona, which gathered culture ministers and international representatives from across the world to deliberate on the role of culture in fostering global cooperation and sustainable development.
