Amman, The Gulf Observer: King Abdullah II on Wednesday commended Prabowo Subianto for his steadfast and principled support for the Palestinian people, underscoring Indonesia’s continued backing for peace efforts in Gaza and the West Bank.

The remarks were made during a bilateral meeting held at Basman Palace as part of President Prabowo’s official visit to Jordan from February 24–25, 2026.

Addressing the Indonesian leader, King Abdullah II expressed appreciation for Jakarta’s unwavering stance on the Palestinian issue. “Your Excellency’s support for the future of the Palestinian people is truly heartening for all of us,” the King said, noting that President Prabowo’s commitment to advancing peace and stability in Palestine reflects courage and principled leadership at a critical time for the region.

The King described such leadership as vital amid ongoing regional tensions and emphasized the importance of joint efforts to support the Palestinian people. He added that he looked forward to further discussions on how both countries could work together to assist “our brothers” in achieving lasting peace.

King Abdullah II also praised President Prabowo’s broader leadership role, indicating that Indonesia’s participation could be significant in future major regional initiatives. “I know your country is interested in taking part,” the monarch remarked, without specifying particular projects.

During the talks, President Prabowo conveyed deep concern over violence committed by Israeli forces against Palestinians in the West Bank. He warned that such incidents risk undermining ongoing peace efforts in Gaza pursued by the Board of Peace (BoP), an initiative aimed at promoting stability in the enclave.

“We are very concerned about the incidents in the West Bank,” President Prabowo stated. “We believe they could hinder whatever progress we are jointly trying to achieve in Gaza,” he added.

Earlier, Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono indicated that the Jordanian government and military stand ready to support Indonesia should it decide to deploy troops to Gaza as part of the International Stabilization Force (ISF), established by Gaza’s Board of Peace.

Following the meeting, King Abdullah II personally accompanied President Prabowo to Marka Air Base for his departure. In a gesture reflecting their longstanding friendship, the King escorted the Indonesian President to the foot of the aircraft before he boarded a Garuda Indonesia plane bound for Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, continuing his regional tour.
