Zangilan, The Gulf Observer: Italian world traveler and academic Alessandro Giovanni Gerevini has expressed admiration for the rapid transformation and scenic beauty of Karabakh during his first visit to the region.

Speaking in an interview with a regional correspondent in Zangilan, Gerevini described his initial impressions as overwhelmingly positive. “This is my first visit to Karabakh. The region has changed so much; it has become even more modern. My first impression of Karabakh is that its nature is simply beautiful,” he said.

Gerevini, who is originally from Italy and currently resides in Japan, serves as a professor at Nagoya University of Foreign Studies. He noted that this marks his second visit to Azerbaijan, recalling his first trip more than a decade ago.

Reflecting on the developments since his previous visit, he expressed surprise at the scale of modernization in the region. “I have seen many new, beautiful buildings here that I honestly wasn’t expecting,” he remarked.

The academic also voiced optimism about Karabakh’s future as a tourism destination, emphasizing its potential to attract international visitors. He suggested that with continued development and increased tourist inflow, the region could soon emerge as a highly appealing destination for global travelers.

Gerevini’s remarks highlight the ongoing transformation of Karabakh and growing international interest in the region’s cultural and natural landscape
