UAE President, Japan Prime Minister Discuss Regional Security, Strengthen Strategic Partnership

Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, received a phone call from Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, during which both leaders discussed evolving regional developments and their broader implications for international security and stability.

The conversation focused on escalating tensions in the region, particularly their impact on maritime security, global energy supplies, and the international economy. Both sides expressed concern over ongoing Iranian attacks targeting the UAE and other regional countries, including strikes on civilians and civilian infrastructure, describing them as violations of sovereignty, international law, and the UN Charter.

Prime Minister Takaichi strongly condemned the attacks and reaffirmed Japan’s solidarity with the UAE, supporting all measures aimed at safeguarding national sovereignty and ensuring the safety and security of its citizens.

In addition to security matters, the leaders reviewed the progress of UAE-Japan bilateral relations, highlighting advancements in economic and developmental cooperation under their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

They also welcomed the successful conclusion of negotiations on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which is expected to boost trade and investment flows while further strengthening cooperation across key sectors.

Both leaders reiterated their commitment to advancing bilateral ties and ensuring that the partnership continues to deliver mutual benefits for their nations and peoples.
