Tajikistan’s Transport Digitalization Center Gains IT Park Residency, Boosting Innovation Drive

Digitalization

Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: The State Unitary Enterprise “Center for Digitalization of Transport Sector” under Tajikistan’s Ministry of Transport has been granted resident status at Dushanbe’s IT Park, marking a significant step in advancing the country’s digital transformation agenda.

Director Sukhrob Yakubzoda stated that the new designation enables the center to benefit from tax incentives and broader state support mechanisms aimed at fostering innovation.

Under Tajikistan’s Tax Code, IT Park residents are exempt from most taxes, with the exception of a 6% personal income tax and a 1% social tax. Additionally, imports of innovative equipment utilized within the IT Park are free from value-added tax and customs duties, providing further impetus for technological development.

The residency also grants access to key IT Park facilities, including high-speed internet services, co-working spaces, and collaborative opportunities with other technology firms and startups operating within the hub.

The Center for Digitalization of Transport Sector was officially inaugurated in October 2024 by Emomali Rahmon and Rustami Emomali during a visit to the Ministry of Transport. The initiative was established to accelerate the modernization of Tajikistan’s road and transport infrastructure through digital technologies.

Its key functions include the deployment of digital traffic management systems across urban and remote areas, installation of GPS tracking on road maintenance equipment, enhanced route planning and vehicle monitoring, and the collection of road asset data for systemized documentation. The center is also working to digitize permit applications and international transport documentation, while introducing dynamic weighing systems to prevent the movement of overloaded vehicles.

Dushanbe’s IT Park, the country’s first dedicated technology hub, was inaugurated on April 7, 2025, as a special economic zone designed to support IT companies, startups, and innovation-driven projects.

The development aligns with Tajikistan’s broader strategic vision for digital transformation. On February 28, 2026, the government approved the Medium-Term Program for the Development of the Digital Economy for 2026–2030, reinforcing its commitment to technological advancement.

Furthermore, under Presidential Decree No. 911 dated January 8, 2025, the period from 2025 to 2030 has been officially designated as the “Years of Digital Economy Development and Innovation,” underscoring the country’s long-term focus on building a knowledge-based and digitally driven economy.
