Turkmenistan to Commission New Cargo Vessel ‘Menzil’ This Year

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov announced on Friday that Turkmenistan will commission a new cargo vessel, Menzil, later this year with the participation of South Korean partners and local specialists.
The announcement was made during a ceremony held in Turkmenbashi to mark the maiden voyage of the dry cargo ship Gadamly.
According to Turkmenistan’s official media, President Berdimuhamedov said the commissioning of new cargo vessels would further expand the capabilities of the country’s national merchant fleet and strengthen maritime transport infrastructure.
The president emphasized that the new vessels would help increase the volume of cargo shipped, received, and transported in transit through the Turkmenbashi International Seaport.
He noted that ships operating routes to Caspian littoral countries would make a significant contribution to Turkmenistan’s economic growth and regional trade connectivity.
The Gadamly vessel, built at the Balkan Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Yard, is designed for transporting dry cargo and has a carrying capacity of 6,100 tons.
Equipped with modern technologies, the vessel is capable of transporting up to 240 cargo containers weighing 20 tons each, further enhancing the efficiency of maritime cargo transportation in the region.
