Jordan Crown Prince Highlights Innovation and Research at University of Jordan Forum

Amman, The Gulf Observer: His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II attended the opening of the Third Honorary Professors Forum at the University of Jordan on Wednesday, reaffirming the Kingdom’s commitment to advancing scientific research, innovation and entrepreneurship as key drivers of sustainable national development.
Held under the theme “Universities Driving National Innovation Ecosystems,” the two-day forum brought together honorary professors, university presidents and academics from 17 countries to exchange expertise, strengthen international research collaboration and explore innovative approaches to higher education and scientific advancement.
During the event, Crown Prince Al Hussein inaugurated the Science Venture Foundry (SVF), a pioneering platform established by the University of Jordan to transform scientific research and promising technologies into investment-ready, high-growth startups. The initiative aims to strengthen cooperation between academia and the private sector while supporting Jordan’s economic modernisation agenda.
The Crown Prince also toured the facility and received a briefing on its research, development, innovation and entrepreneurship programmes, which are designed to accelerate technology transfer, foster commercialisation of research and contribute to the objectives of the National Council for Future Technology.
The forum featured discussions on bridging the gap between academia and industry, commercialising scientific research, promoting university spin-offs, integrating technology into education and strengthening health biotechnology and innovation ecosystems. Participants also attended a keynote lecture by internationally recognised artificial intelligence expert Omar Hatamleh, who highlighted the transformative impact of AI on the future workforce.
University of Jordan President Nathir Obeidat said the institution continues to adapt to rapid scientific and technological developments through high-quality academic programmes aimed at preparing future-ready graduates, while also working to establish a new technical college to meet evolving labour market demands.
