UAE Launches Global Accelerators Ambassadors Programme in Collaboration with ICAO
Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) government has inaugurated the Global Accelerators Ambassadors Programme, marking a groundbreaking initiative that underscores collaboration between Government Accelerators and international organizations. This pioneering project, a first of its kind, aims to propagate the methodology of UAE government accelerators and empower task forces within international organizations with the requisite knowledge, experience, and tools to expedite the design and execution of transformative projects.
The inaugural cohort of the programme, conducted in partnership with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), seeks to instill a culture of acceleration by equipping employees of international organizations with the skills to become accelerator ambassadors. By nurturing a cadre of accelerator ambassadors, the initiative endeavors to propagate the principles of acceleration globally.
This initiative, spearheaded by the Government Accelerators Centre at the Prime Minister’s Office in the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, follows the successful collaboration between the Government Accelerators Centre and the World Health Organisation (WHO). The partnership with WHO empowered the organization with the methodology of accelerators, aiding in the achievement of its “Triple Billion Targets”.
The launch event took place at the headquarters of ICAO in Montreal, Canada, in the presence of dignitaries including Juan Carlos Salazar, Secretary-General of ICAO; Dr. Radhiya Al Hashimi, Executive Director of the Government Accelerators Centre; and Saeed Alsuwaidi, UAE Permanent Representative to ICAO, among others.
Huda AlHashimi, Deputy Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Strategic Affairs, hailed the programme as laying the groundwork for enhanced knowledge partnerships between the UAE government and international organizations. She underscored the significance of sharing experiences and the UAE’s successful accelerators model to support organizations in accelerating the attainment of their objectives.
In expressing gratitude for the partnership, Salazar commended the UAE government’s commitment to supporting collaboration with ICAO, emphasizing its contribution to the advancement of the global aviation sector and fostering innovation in future business models.
The programme comprises six courses spanning three main stages – design, planning, and implementation – conducted over 100 days. Through intensive workshops, the Government Accelerators team trained 15 ICAO employees, providing them with the requisite knowledge and skills to implement the 100-day work methodology of government accelerators.
The workshops facilitated robust discussions on innovative ideas, initiatives, and transformational projects, addressing challenges related to restructuring procedures, automation and data unification, and talent development.
The UAE’s experience in developing government accelerators, its pioneering 100-day methodology, and success stories achieved through accelerators were showcased during the workshops, underscoring the pivotal role of accelerators in strategic partnerships between the UAE and various countries.
The collaboration between the UAE and ICAO underscores a commitment to share best practices, exchange knowledge, and enhance the performance of the global aviation sector, aligning with the strategic initiatives of both entities to bolster innovation and readiness for the future in civil aviation.
