President Ilham Aliyev Holds Phone Discussion with Iran’s Acting President
Baku, The Gulf Observer: Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, engaged in a phone conversation today with Mohammad Mokhber, the acting President and First Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, according to media reports.
During the call, both leaders emphasized the deep historical friendship and neighborly relations between their countries, highlighting the brotherly ties that unite the Azerbaijani and Iranian peoples. The discussion touched upon a significant meeting between President Ilham Aliyev and the late Iranian President, Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, which took place at the Azerbaijan-Iran border. They underscored the importance of the discussions and agreements reached during that meeting, which addressed numerous significant issues and reaffirmed the future directions for bilateral relations, showcasing the strong political will of both nations.
President Ilham Aliyev reiterated Azerbaijan’s full commitment to the agreements made and expressed a steadfast willingness to continue working with Iran on their implementation. He extended heartfelt condolences once again to the state and people of Iran over the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and other officials.
In response, Mohammad Mokhber expressed gratitude for the condolences and assured that Iran would honor the agreements made during the meeting between President Ilham Aliyev and the late President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, in alignment with the interests of both countries.
The conversation also included discussions on the ongoing efforts to establish a road-transport route connecting Azerbaijan’s Zangilan district with Nakhchivan through Iranian territory, further reinforcing the cooperative spirit and mutual interests of Azerbaijan and Iran.
