Almaty to Host Prestigious ATP 250 Almaty Open in October 2025

Almaty, The Gulf Observer: The city of Almaty is set to host the ATP 250 Almaty Open from October 11 to 19, 2025, Kazakhstan’s National Olympic Committee announced on Tuesday. The tournament is part of the ATP 250 series, which comprises 40 events held annually across 30 countries, with each singles champion earning 250 ATP ranking points.

The total prize money for the Almaty Open 2025 is expected to exceed one million US dollars, underscoring Kazakhstan’s growing stature as a premier destination for international tennis events.

Kazakhstan first hosted an ATP 250 tournament in Astana in 2020, and in 2022, the event was temporarily elevated to ATP 500 status, attracting top global talents such as Novak Djokovic, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Daniil Medvedev, Carlos Alcaraz, Hubert Hurkacz, and Andrey Rublev.

Reigning champion Karen Khachanov is anticipated to return to defend his singles title in Almaty, adding to the excitement and prestige of the upcoming tournament.

The announcement comes amid a surge of success for Kazakhstani tennis, including the recent achievement of Anna Danilina, who has entered the top 10 in the updated WTA Doubles Rankings — a milestone that further reflects the nation’s rising profile in the international tennis arena.

The Almaty Open 2025 is expected to draw global attention and contribute significantly to the development of tennis in Kazakhstan, while also promoting the country as a host of world-class sporting events.
