Azerbaijani Parliament Speaker Meets Spanish Senate President to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

Baku, The Gulf Observer: As part of her official visit to the Kingdom of Spain, Speaker of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) of Azerbaijan, Sahiba Gafarova, held a meeting with Pedro Rollán, President of the Spanish Senate.

During the meeting, President Rollán expressed Spain’s strong interest in deepening relations with Azerbaijan. He noted that the Spanish Senate places high importance on enhancing interparliamentary cooperation and stands ready to support broader intergovernmental collaboration between the two nations.

Speaker Gafarova highlighted the successful and steadily developing cooperation between Azerbaijan and Spain, particularly in the economic field, where she noted the existence of a positive record of collaboration. She pointed out that there is significant untapped potential for expanding cooperation across a variety of sectors.

Emphasizing the vital role of legislative diplomacy, Gafarova underlined the importance of further strengthening ties between the parliaments of both countries.

The meeting also addressed cooperation in the humanitarian sector, with both sides acknowledging the shared values that contribute to a strong bilateral relationship. In particular, the discussion highlighted the mutual respect for multiculturalism as a distinctive feature that unites Azerbaijan and Spain.

The visit reflects the growing momentum in Azerbaijan–Spain relations and a shared commitment to enhancing dialogue and partnership on both the parliamentary and governmental levels.
