Germany Hails ‘Very Strong’ Ties with Morocco as Bilateral Trade Doubles
Berlin, The Gulf Observer: Germany has reaffirmed the strength of its partnership with Morocco, with senior German officials describing bilateral relations as “very strong” and highlighting a remarkable expansion in trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
Speaking during Morocco’s Throne Day reception in Berlin, Germany’s State Secretary at the Federal Foreign Office, Géza Andreas von Geyr, praised the growing strategic partnership between Rabat and Berlin, emphasizing that both nations are well positioned to further deepen cooperation across a range of sectors.
Von Geyr noted that bilateral trade between Germany and Morocco has doubled in recent years, reflecting the increasing dynamism of economic ties. He also pointed to Morocco’s modern infrastructure, strategic geographic location, and highly skilled workforce as key factors attracting German businesses and investors.
Germany considers Morocco one of its most important partners in North Africa. According to the German Federal Foreign Office, Morocco is Germany’s second-largest investment destination and third-largest trading partner in Africa. Around 300 German companies operate in Morocco, supporting approximately 35,000 jobs, while bilateral trade continues to expand steadily.
The positive momentum in bilateral relations follows the continued implementation of the Morocco-Germany Multidimensional Strategic Dialogue, which has strengthened cooperation in trade, renewable energy, climate action, migration, vocational training, and regional security. Both governments have expressed their commitment to expanding collaboration in areas of shared strategic interest.
The renewed affirmation of ties underscores the growing importance of Morocco as a regional economic hub and reliable partner for Germany, with both countries seeking to build on their longstanding relationship through enhanced political dialogue, increased investment, and broader economic cooperation.
