Dubai, The Gulf Observer: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, today approved a new master plan for Expo City Dubai. The approval was made in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai.

The newly unveiled plan defines Expo City Dubai’s pivotal role in driving Dubai’s future development and elevating the emirate’s global standing. Built on the legacy of the 2020 World Expo and COP28, Expo City Dubai will serve as a cornerstone for the emirate’s advancement in critical sectors.

Expo City Dubai’s strategic expansion is set to create vast investment opportunities, especially for forward-looking enterprises. Its proximity to Al Maktoum International Airport, Jebel Ali Port, and the Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC) places it at the heart of Dubai’s ambitions in trade, logistics, technology, innovation, tourism, business, and events.

The master plan aligns with the broader goals of the 2040 Dubai Urban Master Plan, which names Expo City as one of five key urban centres. Additionally, it supports the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which seeks to double the emirate’s economy by 2033. A critical component of this vision is the accelerated development of the Dubai South area, further positioning Dubai as a leading global hub for trade, investment, business, and tourism.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid said, “A decade ago, we laid the foundation for a new city within Dubai – one that would host the world, foster innovation, and drive sustainability, marking a new chapter in the UAE’s prosperity. Today, we unveil a new phase of our long-term vision to further our ambitions.

“The new master plan establishes Expo City Dubai as a hub for pioneers, entrepreneurs, and investors. It will attract innovators, educators, and students, while also serving as a vibrant community for residents and visitors. A new global centre in our growth corridor, Expo City Dubai reflects our vision for the future. It is dedicated to sustainable development, improving quality of life, and creating a thriving business environment, all while honouring our heritage and embracing future opportunities.”

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum emphasized Expo City Dubai’s embodiment of Sheikh Mohammed’s vision of a future-ready city, saying, “Expo City Dubai exemplifies Dubai’s forward-looking approach to sustainability, innovation, and quality of life. The new master plan will serve as a model for future cities and play a key role in achieving the ambitious objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.”

Spanning 3.5 square kilometres, Expo City Dubai is set to house more than 35,000 residents and accommodate over 40,000 professionals. It will serve as a global hub for businesses, investors, and homeowners who share its commitment to a sustainable and connected future.

The master plan includes the new global headquarters for DP World, a leading enabler of international trade, and features the Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC), a key driver of the city’s economic growth. DEC is set to expand its venue, further enhancing Dubai’s capacity to host world-class events.

H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, remarked, “As Dubai continues to grow, its future will increasingly be centred in the southern region, aligned with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed’s long-term vision. Expo City Dubai will be the anchor of this growth, offering unmatched opportunities for businesses, investors, and events.”

The master plan approval ceremony was also attended by H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Ports and Borders Security Council; H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority; along with several government officials and senior executives.
