Liz Truss named as next UK PM

London, The Gulf Observer: The UK’s ruling Conservative Party on Monday declared Foreign Secretary Liz Truss as the new UK prime minister after defeating former Chief Secretary to the Treasury Rishi Sunak, succeeding Boris Johnson who had stepped down in July.

Truss will become Prime Minister on Tuesday after travelling to meet the Queen at Balmoral in Scotland.
